YULIEM DOMINGUEZ

CLINIC ASSISTANT

Yuliem has been passionate about animal husbandry since childhood, having grown up with farm animals, birds, dogs, and cats. Pursuing a career in animal care has always been her ultimate goal, aligning with the saying, "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." After spending most of her professional life in customer service and hospitality, she decided to transition into the animal care field.

Yuliem completed a Veterinary Assistant program at Cal State East Bay and worked in an entry-level position at a local veterinary clinic for one year. After taking personal time away from work, she was eager to return to a role where she could make a meaningful impact in the animal care field. She enjoys working in supporting roles and ultimately found her niche in instrument sterilization, where she assists veterinary doctors during surgical procedures. She has been board-certified as a Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician since 2024.

She is an active volunteer at the Oakland Zoo. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games, light hiking, anime, landscape and animal photography, reading, and baseball.

A proud dog mom, she shares her home with Loki Entei, a five-year-old American Staffordshire Bully mix, and Nita Panchita, a two-year-old Australian Cattle Staffordshire mix.
