What is “Kitten Season”?

Every year as the weather warms, outdoor or community cats go into heat, breed, and start having kittens. This means tens of thousands of kittens can be born in a single "kitten season" just in the Bay Area.
Kittens as young as 4 months can have multiple litters a year, and the population growth can be exponential, putting more stress on the cats already in the community. That’s one of many reasons it’s hugely important to get your animals spayed and neutered (it also prevents many painful and potentially life-threatening conditions), and to support your local animal organizations doing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return).

We do not currently directly do the Trap or Return part of TNR, and do not have a fostering or adoption program. If you’re in the Bay Area, just a few of the many other groups supporting TNR include Feral Change, ICRA and Friends of Oakland Animal Services. Some of the groups doing kitten adoptions and fosters include Saving Grace Rescue Inc., Berkeley Humane Society and Hopalong Animal Rescue.

As you can see, it takes a whole community to take care of these kittens and cats! We offer a feral cat package that includes a spay/neuter, vaccines, a microchip, flea treatment, and we also have traps that you can rent for your appointment.

Recursos para la “Temporada de gatitos”

Qué es la “temporada de gatitos”?

Cada año, cuando el clima se vuelve cálido, las gatas callejeras o de la comunidad entran en celo, se reproducen y empiezan a tener gatitos. Esto significa que miles de gatitos pueden nacer en una sola “temporada de gatitos” y sólo en el Area de la Bahía.

Gatitas de sólo 4 meses de edad, pueden tener varias camadas de gatitos al año, haciendo crecer a la población aceleradamente, y sumando a los gatitos ya existentes en la comunidad. Esta es una de la razones por las cuales es sumamente importante esterilizar a sus animales (también previene condiciones dolorosas y peligrosas), y ayudar a las organizaciones animales locales a hacer TNR (Capturar-Esterilizar-Soltar).

Actualmente, nosotros no Capturamos o Soltamos directamente, y no tenemos programas de acogida o adopción.
