Before They Become Rescue Stories

So far this year, we’ve spayed and neutered 1,030 pets and 1,330 community cats. That’s the core of what we do.

But that’s not all we see.

It’s the 9-year-old dog with an infected skin tumor. The cat blocked for the third time who now needs surgery to prevent it from happening again. The community cat who stuck around long enough to get a name and now needs an eye removed.

You’ll often see stories like these once an animal is already in a shelter or rescue. We take care of these patients earlier, while they’re still with their owners—before they become rescue stories.

May is National Pet Month. Check out our social media @AnimalFixClinic for some of our favorite patient stories.

This is what access to care looks like in practice: surgery while the animal is still at home.

Meet Miso

Miso is a 4-year-old cat who had already been through multiple urinary obstructions. By the time he came to us, he had been hospitalized again, and his family had already spent thousands trying to get him through each episode.

He was transferred directly from the referring hospital for surgery with us.

Miso underwent surgery to remove the material in his bladder and create a new urinary opening (perineal urethrostomy) to prevent future blockages, all in one anesthetic event. He recovered well and went home the next day.

His family later shared:
“You and your clinic have been an incredible source of compassionate professionalism. My daughters and I thank you immeasurably.”

No more repeat emergencies. Back home where he belongs.

Most clients contribute what they can. Donor support covers the rest, so we can move forward with surgery when it’s needed.

This month, we’re running a raffle to fund more cases like Miso’s. Each entry helps cover the cost of surgery. Get 1 raffle entry for every $25 donation.
