Nichole & Boomer through the Years

Nichole and Boomer met when Boomer was just a kitten when he was living on the beach at Port Hueneme. Boomer was having a hard time being fully on his own outdoors, and Nichole soon became his caretaker.

From the beginning, this sweet gray cat got along with people and cats alike, and he settled in well to living outside of Nichole’s apartment building while visiting both her and the neighbors frequently.

Flash forward many happy years, and Boomer turned 16. He was still his sweet self but began developing some medical issues, as any cat of his age is bound to.

Nichole noticed that poor Boom had this ping-pong-sized mass on his back left hip with a strange scratch atop it. The scratch did not heal. It got bigger and really weepy. Nichole was washing blankets way too much.

Vets her step-mom had taken him to said the scratch would heal and he was just too old for surgery.

Nichole says that for months “I was struggling to find a facility that I could afford and felt confident in the care I was signing [Boomer] up for. Estimates were [just too] high. Then thank goodness a semi-retired vet I love…recommended me to [Animal Fix Clinic].”

At Animal Fix Clinic, we see senior cats and dogs on a regular if not a daily basis. We’re able to safely put them under anesthesia, and provide them the specialized care they need. Many of the team members have senior animals at home and we know what sweet and loving companions they are. We were able to get Boomer into the clinic soon after Nichole contacted us, and perform the surgery he needed.

Here we are almost one year later. Boomer is doing incredibly well. Everything healed easily with no complications. His hair has fully grown back, there is no sign of the mass returning, and a skin tag we also removed under his eye healed without issue.

Nichole tells us that “figuring out finances in life is really hard. With your organization, I was able to help my cat without putting myself in a financially devastating place. Thank you again so much.”

Thank you Nichole for caring for Boomer for so many years, and for sharing your story with us!!
